PopPop Finally Got His Riding Mower (And We’re Wondering Why We Waited So Long)
There comes a point when you realize spending an entire weekend pushing a mower just doesn’t make sense anymore.
After years of mowing our property with a push mower, Mimi bought PopPop a riding mower, and honestly, we’re wondering why we waited so long.

Our Little Field of Dreams
Before we go any further, let me explain something about our yard. We’re not the perfectly striped, golf-course lawn people. Our yard is more of a field of dreams. Patches of grass, little wildflowers that appear where they please, lots of green, and places where nature has simply been allowed to be nature. We like it that way. So does our little OG, who spent last weekend finding purple flowers. We live on a well, and years ago we made a deliberate decision not to use lawn chemicals or fertilizers. We wanted a yard where grandkids could run barefoot, where the dogs could wander without worry, and where we could be outside without wondering what had been sprayed.
It's not a magazine lawn. But it's ours, and it's beautiful in the way real life is beautiful.
Why We Finally Decided It Was Time
The truth? Mowing had become an all-weekend event. PopPop has faithfully pushed that mower for years, and while he never complained much, it was becoming harder to justify. When your quick mow starts taking up Saturday and sometimes spills into Sunday, something has to change. We wanted time back: more evenings outside, more time around the fire pit, more time with family, and a little less exhaustion.
